Hipster Cyclemon Featured

Cyclemon is a made in France graphic design project created by Thomas Pomarelle and Romain Bourdieux for the 100th anniversary of the Tour de France. The principle of the Cyclemon, “You are what you ride”, combines bicycle designs with categories of different kinds of people in a caricatured manner.

All of these posters are available for purchase here from $16 each.  This is definitely one of my favorite projects that I have come across to date and it’s an entertaining one at that.

What do you ride?

Blurred backgrounds are great for use in both graphic and web designs. They give the design depth and appeal without taking away from the actual design and content that is meant to be focused on. Tommy Sadler put together this free download of 15 blurred backgrounds that will come in handy for your next design project. You can follow him on Twitter and Dribbble to stay up to date with his latest designs and freebies.

It can take years for a blog to become well established and recognized by the design community and it takes that long to build a good following. There are hundreds of Web and Graphic design blogs are all over the internet, finding which one’s are trustworthy and contain well written (and informing) articles can be hard these days.

I decided to compile a list of 15 web and graphic design blogs that I personally follow and find trustworthy (as far as original content goes). Please keep in mind that these are in no particular order.

1. Webdesigner Depot

I’ve personally been following this blog since I started in design a few years ago. There is always great, trustworthy content coming from Webdesigner Depot and they cover everything from Photoshop tutorials to WordPress plugins.

2. CSS-Tricks

My favorite thing about being a Front-End Web Developer is the fact that I get to work in CSS everyday. So it’s no surprise that I would follow Chris Coyier and his blog, CSS-Tricks. Chris is a CSS genius and I feel confident I am getting good information when I read his blog and his various articles he puts out daily.

3. Tuts+

Tuts+ not only covers Web Design and Graphic Design, but they also go as far as covering individual topics such as Vector Tuts, Craft Tuts, AE Tuts, Photo Tuts, WordPress Tuts, and many more. What I love about Tuts+ is the amazing how to videos, tutorials, and screen casts. You can get the full list of Tuts+ sites from their main website, tutsplus.com.

4. Smashing Magazine

Smashing Magazine publishes great articles and houses an awesome marketplace full of great tutorial books, one of my favorite being Smashing WordPress. They cover everything from coding to graphic design.

5. SitePoint

SitePoint is great site for learning new things related to web and graphic design. They sell tons of great books, quite a few of which I have, that offer great information on any web related topic. The site also has a web forum, so you can sign up for that and post any questions you may have or just talk with others who share your same interests.

6. Creative Bloq

Creative Bloq is a branch off of the creatives magazine net mag and they cover everything from Web Design to Photography to 3D and Animation. They do mostly showcase articles for inspiration but they do cover how to articles. They publish multiple articles daily and are always on top of things, the only thing that gets to me about creative bloq’s website is the insane amount of advertisements and the lack of responsive design.

7. Designmodo

Designmodo is a great website for inspiration and how to articles. The site layout is very clean and easy to navigate through (it’s not all cluttered with advertisements), plus it’s responsive. Designmodo also posts various free resources for graphic and web designers.

8. Noupe

Noupe is another “cover it all” blog. They do everything from inspiration showcases and how to articles to web development and photography. Based out of Germany and created by Michael Dobler, Noupe offers a great place for designers and developers to stay in the now.

9. Onextrapixel

Onextrapixel is fairly new to me, I just started following them recently. From what I have read over the past couple of weeks though, it seems to be a great blog to get trustworthy information from. Onextrapixel covers you from inspiration showcases to development articles as well as some great tutorial and how to articles.

10. Web Design Ledger

Web Design Ledger is a blog written by web designers for web designers. It covers various web design related tips and tutorials and has a great inspiration and freebie section.

11. Six Revisions

Launched in 2008 by Jason Gube, Six Revisions is a great resource for Web designers and Web developers. They provide great tips and tutorials for developers and designers written by a talented, trustworthy group of designers and developers.

12. Abduzeedo

Abduzeedo is an inspiration blog founded by Fabio Sasso geared more toward graphic designers and photographers. They cover quite a few tutorials for Photoshop and Illustrator as well as case studies and interviews with various designers.

13. Line25

Although it’s not the most aesthetically pleasing website to visit, Line25 does have some great articles. I always find myself stumbling across Line25 when searching for something web related.

14. Speckyboy

Speckyboy is another blog I just recently started following. Speckyboy was launched in 2007 by Paul Andrew and covers a variety of things including graphic design, development, mobile, and photography. It has a good sized following and a great selection of articles.

15. Enfuzed

Of course I have to list Enfuzed on here :). In all seriousness though, Enfuzed is growing fast and I hope to have it be one of the well known design inspiration blogs on the web, listed with some of the above blogs someday. I am dedicated to bringing you the best and in a different way than most other blogs, strictly focusing on the showcase and visuals, letting them do the work, while limiting the amount of text in each article (except I may have went overboard with text in this article).
