Interview with Calligrapher Evgeny Tkhorzhevsky
Calligraphy is one of those arts that I have never personally done, but thoroughly enjoy looking at. Some calligraphers are just brilliant when it comes their designs, one of those being Evgeny Tkhorzhevsky. His calligraphy is amazing and it is fun following him to see what kind of designs he will come up with next.
I’ve been following Evgeny on Dribbble for awhile now and I have much respect for him as a calligrapher. I was lucky enough to be able to do a small interview with Evgeny and he was kind enough to answer a few questions which you will see below.

Where are you from?
I was born 1984 in Khabarovsk, Russia.
Where do you currently reside?
Now I live with my family and work in Vladivostok, Russia.
How old are you?
30
How many years have you been doing Calligraphy?
I have been writing calligraphy for 8 years.
What made you want to become a Calligrapher?
I had to learn how to create original logo with a unique shapes of letters.
Where did you land your first design related job?
It was a logo for skate’n’snowboard shop SmartShop in Khabarovsk.

How much time do you spend per project on average?
5–10 hours
What is your favorite non-design related hobby?
Elektronique Tanzen Musique play on my boxes
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Elektronique Tanzen Musique play on my boxes, work on village, walk with my wife, ride my Honda Scoopy, do yoga in a morning
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
I take my inspiration in experiments with instruments at first, and on Behance

My workflow is now being renovated

What is your favorite book?
I love to read methodical literature and I have many good books. The last book that I was inspired is Design for Real World by Victor Papanek. I advise to read this book for all designers.

What are some of your future goals?
Now I’ll open Ё-FONTS type design studio and in 6 years I plan to be a great type designer.
